Bridget Flannery Irish, 1959-2024

Overview

Bridget Flannery’s paintings emerged from her engagement with the natural world, expressing the character of place as well as her memories, feelings and experiences. Her paintings, while abstract, have an organic relationship to sea, sky and land. Using acrylic, pastel, and collage on wood surfaces, the paintings investigate colour, form and texture.

Born in Cork in 1959 and graduating from Crawford College of Art & Design in 1981, Bridget Flannery held numerous exhibitions throughout Ireland and Europe including solo exhibitions at the Cross Gallery, Dublin; Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast and the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin.  Her work can be found in numerous public collections including the Office of Public Works / State Art Collection; Crawford Municipal Gallery, Cork; University College Cork; Cork Opera House; IBEC Dublin; Bank of Ireland; Four Seasons Hotel Group; Museum of Fine Art, Latvia and various private collections.   Following a short illness the artist sadly passed away in April 2024.
