Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host an exhibition of paintings by artist David King. The work in this exhibition, produced during lock-down, is based on King’s continuing exploration of the changing dynamic in the landscape around his studio and home in Kilkea, Co. Kildare and the steady observation of light and atmosphere on his daily walks before beginning work in the studio. His recurring theme of the passage of time is made manifest in paintings and drawings that feature in this show. The river and its banks where he swims, reflections, seasonal changes in sown and harvested fields, weather and trees and the deep remembrances of soil in the events that shaped them.
David King was born in Dublin in 1972 and studied at the National College of Art and Design graduating with a B.A in Fine Art in 1997, an M.A in Fine Art practice & theory in 2000 and a Master's in Professional Education in 2017. King's practice incorporates multiple approaches; drawing from art history and contemporary perspectives. His work incorporates drawing and painting, often on a large scale, as well as sculpture, which utilise bone, stainless steel or Corten steel and wood.
