This major monograph on the artist Tom Climent documents his work over the last decade. Climent describes his paintings from this period as “almost a call to light”. In the words of Cristín Leach, "From cave-like shelters to abstract terrains marked by explosions of colour, he seeks in his new work to capture something dormant that has returned to life. Following on from a period of more structured painting, there is a deliberate opening and unfolding in these canvases and for the first time in a long time, some intimations of human form. Petal-shapes bloom as they signal his intuitive faith in the idea of transformation through evolution and regrowth. His works have long offered a mediation on life, making, and being. These paintings embrace and make visual his understanding of the possibilities of change. There is a sense of shared space. For Climent, painting is an act of searching. This work is an invitation to join in as we look. Ever evolving, these compositions pull you in and push you back out, older, wiser, changed.”
